Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a beautiful city full of leisure, culture, parks, people, and good atmosphere… Show Me Madrid is a company that organizes free tours of Madrid, in a fun, interactive way.

Here are some great places to experience in Madrid:

The Statue of the Bear and “Madroño” tree is a sculpture representing the heraldic arms of the town. It is in the eastern side of the Puerta del Sol, the city square where both “Madrileños” and visitors choose as a popular meeting point. Here, we can find the “Kilometro cero”, the center of all Spanish highways.

Gran Vía Steet is one of the busiest streets in Madrid, full of shops, cinemas, and live theatre! On this street we can also see one of the most famous buildings in Madrid, the Capitol or Carrión “Schweppes building”.

Museo del Prado

The Fountain of Cibeles is a sculpture dedicated to Madrid´s “Goddess”, Cibeles, who´s found sitting on a chariot pulled by two lions. El Palacio de Comunicaciones, Madrid´s City Council, has a rooftop terrace from which visitors can see the city of Madrid, as well as artistic expos inside.

Puerta de Alcalá is a gate monument in the “Independence Square” of Madrid. The square is intersected by Calle Serrano, a great place for premium shopping! Parque del Retiro is a city park stretching 18 acres in size, with a boat riding lake, a glass palace, and even peacocks!…

In Madrid there are also many neighbourhoods known for their festivals and customs. La Latina, is where Madrileños go for tapas and relaxing afternoons, Chueca is full of trendy stores and clubs, Malasaña is popular for its nightlife and parties, and Barrio de los Austrias has lots of medieval architecture and great places to discover.

Plaza de España, or “Spain´s Square”, has a park in which to relax in and a statue dedicated to Miguel Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote de la Mancha. Nearby is Madrid´s oldest monument, El Templo de Debod.
El Palacio Real, The royal palace of Madrid, is one of Europe´s largest functioning palaces, still being used for state ceremonies. The palace can be visited daily.
